Tight and Toned Arms
April 12, 2010
Not Just Going to the Gym...
Bye-bye arms; the
second wave–by whatever name, the thought of flabby arms strikes fear in
the hearts of women. As this is a body part accentuated by elegant female
clothing, it becomes a focal point of my training with female clients.
Yet, most women
believe the path to sleek arms is to only do arm exercises. Not so. While
lifting weights helps to contribute to toned arms, the key to success is a
strong nutrition program backed by toning and full body exercises.
The reason is that while you can build muscle, if you do not reduce the body
fat over the muscle, no amount of
toning exercises will help.
Tips for Toned
Arms...
WATCH
CALORIE INTAKE:
Fat reduction is as simple as math equations: calories
in versus calories out. That is why Control Fitness clients undergo
metabolism tests; to see how many calories per day they need.
However, you can easily start the fat reduction cycle without a metabolism
test by reducing your portion size–and cutting the late night eating. Both
tend to be sources of extra calories for women.
ARM FOCUS
- FULL BODY SETTING:
While the arms do need to be worked, they should be hit in conjunction with
full body exercises. The arms are a very small part of the body, and while
it will tone, it only burns a small amount of calories. But, if you add full
body workouts, then you burn more calories and contribute to a larger
caloric deficit.
SLEEK & TONED ARMS:
There
is no secret, nor silver bullet to achieving toned arms. Hard work and
healthy eating will pave the way to where you can feel relaxed and confident
in a sleeveless dress in no time.
Not sure what to do? All this week on the Renovo fan page we will be posting
daily tips on how to better tone your arms.
